OIL SPILL RECOVERY PROJECT

The Foss tank barge FOSS 248 P2 is seen off Lena Point attended by the Olson Marine tug NORMAN O and the tug  HALLE FOSS.  The 2060 gross ton single hull tank barge FOSS 248 P2  was built in 1980 at the Galveston Shipbuilding yard in Galveston, Texas. The barge has an overall length of 248 feet with a 56 foot beam. She is participating in the pollution abatement work on the sunken passenger ship PRINCESS KATHLEEN which sank after running aground on Lena Point September 7, 1952. The HALLE FOSS was built in 1970 at the Quality Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana. She has a registered length of 91.2 ft and a beam of 28 ft and is admeasured at 145 gross and 99 net tons. Olson Marine’s  NORMAN O was built in Portland, Oregon, in 1970. She has a length of 66 ft and a beam of 24 ft and is admeasured at 96 gross and 65 net tons.
