Craig &
Ketchikan Activation Update
As per my last newsletter, the TWIC activation
schedule for Craig and Ketchikan is as follows:
The Craig mobile
activation center will be in operation from Monday, Dec 1 through
Wednesday Dec 3. The center will be located at the Interisland
Ferry Authority (IFA) business office. Hours: Mon 12:00p-5:00p,
Tues 8:00a-5:00p, Wed 8:00a-4:00p.
[Click here for more info &
to make an appointment]
The Ketchikan mobile
activation center will be in operation from Friday, Dec 5 through
Friday, Dec 19, then will return from Monday, Jan 5 through Friday, Jan
9. It will be located in the Ketchikan Harbor Office. Hours:
Mon-Fri 8:00a-5:00p.
[Click here for more info &
to make an appointment]
I also need to make a minor correction to my
last newsletter: I made the comment that the cards for those of
you who enrolled in Ketchikan were likely sitting in Juneau and could
be picked up here until they were delivered to Ketchikan for the activation
described above. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. These cards were sent
to Ketchikan for the intial activation visit which was cut short by the
network outage several weeks ago. They are still in Ketchikan,
pre-staged for the activation visit in Dec and Jan. DON'T TRAVEL
TO JUNEAU between now & December looking for your card!!
Last item: Any cards that don't get
activated during the Craig visit will be transferred to Ketchikan for
the duration of that visit. This is good news for those of you in
Craig who will be unable to activate your card Dec 1 -Dec 3.
You'll now have a 2nd chance to activate it in Ketchikan. If you
miss Ketchikan as well, the cards will be returned to Juneau after Jan
9.

Fair winds and following seas...
It is with great sadness that I must report Lou
McCall, our recently-retired Juneau Harbormaster, has passed away
after battling a long illness.
Lou earlier served as the Deputy
Harbormaster in Sitka, as well as an active, and "Lifetime"
member of Alaska's Association of Harbormasters & Port
Administrators (AAHPA). As AAHPA's representative on the
"Alaska TWIC Workgroup," he was a great help in
establishing many of the mobile enrollment centers this newsletter has
discussed in the past year.
The picture below (Lou in the middle) was taken
the first day of TWIC enrollment at the Juneau Fixed Enrollment Center.
Anyone wishing to send condolences to
Lou's family may do so using the following address:
