Cordova's small boat harbor has a capacity of
850 boats, making it one of Alaska's largest single-basin harbors.
Among the harbor's amenities are slips ranging in size from 17'
up to 60' with slips available for all size vessels. Other amenities
include 160' and 180' tidal grids, two launch ramps, vessel haul-out
and storage, and gear storage. Also available are electricity,
phones, potable water and fuel.
The port consists of three larger docks. The Municipal dock
is Cordova's main commercial port facility. The dock's outside
face is 408' with an average depth of 25'. The City Dock which
is 300' is used primarily for transfer of light freight and gear.
This dock is equipped with one-ton crane. The T-dock is 213'
with a 50' dolphin and is used for moorage of the U.S.C.G. buoytender
Sycamore.
The Harbor and Port Department has a staff of 6 fulltime employee
and hires part-time employees during the busy summer season.
The harbor is staffed seven days a week, 16 hours a day. The
harbor office and staff stand by on VHF 16 and switch to VHF
68 as a working channel. Visiting boaters are asked to check
in at the harbor office as soon as they get their vessel tied
up at the dock to complete a registration form and pay any necessary
fees |
