Sea Traffic Management

Improving maritime efficiency, safety, and environmental protection by optimizing vessel arrivals, reducing traffic risk, and enabling early detection and response to marine casualties.

24/7 Operations Center

Marine Exchange of Alaska serves as the 24/7 Monitoring Center for Pacific Maritime Management Services (PacMMS). PacMMS assists vessels with compliance through port queuing initiatives developed to increase the distance vessels remain offshore to provide more open water to reduce the risk of collisions, as well as mitigate nearshore emissions. PacMMS also aids vessels adherence to offshore routing measures and notifies regional  affiliate organizations and other appropriate parties when an incident occurs.

Regional Maritime Expertise

When a vessel is faced with an elevated risk situation such as loss of power, information on resources available, their capabilities, current locations of response assets and points of contact will be provided 24 hours a day from PacMMS’s network of regional maritime experts. An updated Emergency Response Information System developed and maintained by PacMMS is made available to owners/operators, QI’s (Qualified Individual) the Coast Guard and state agencies when an incident develops to aid implementation of an effective and timely response to prevent or minimize adverse impacts.
