The Marine Exchange of Alaska (MXAK) provides services that aid safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible maritime operations.
In pursuit of the MXAK mission statement, the Marine Exchange of Alaska crew focuses its efforts in three areas: Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Maritime Domain Management (MDM) and Maritime Advocacy.

MXAK has developed a comprehensive system throughout Alaska providing Maritime Domain Awareness for ports, regulatory agencies, vessel operators and maritime communities to enhance safe, efficient and environmentally sound maritime operations. MXAK also provides real time weather and tidal current informationfrom sensors installed and maintained by MXAK as well as prints NOAA approved “Print on Demand” nautical charts.
MXAK provides information that aids the management of Alaska’s maritime domain to minimize marine casualties, environmental harm and disruption to trade. MXAK’s staff have accumulated extensive experience in maritime operations in Alaska and the various federal and state safety, security and environmental regulations that apply to vessels and/or facilities and their operations. This knowledge is applied to assist members’ awareness of the applicable regulations and compliance through the submission of plans, training, and conduct of audits or the adherence to risk mitigating measures.
MXAK promotes the valuable role the marine industry plays in the welfare of Alaskans and showcases maritime career opportunities. MXAK also manages the Alaska Clean Harbor program to aid environmentally responsible maritime activities in our ports and harbors.
